Lead:

The Israelites pack up and start moving; Paul begins to correct falsehood to the church in Colossae.

Intro:

Get along little dawgie! Big day of transition here at ForTheHope…at least in terms of our Bible reading. You’ll recall that after Israel leaves Egypt there’s this pattern of parking it to get a law dump, then a period of travel, repeated. Today we make the turn into picking up camp and beginning to journey.

Too, today we start the book of Colossians. Colossae was in what we’d now know as Turkey, and even though it’s Paul that’s writing to them, he never went there to the best of our knowledge. But…given there was some weird philosophy that was being taught, here comes Paul, one of the heavy hitters, to respond to something that looked like part Gnosticism, part Jewish, and part angel worship with a bit of ‘keep the rules’ asceticism thrown in.
