Lead: Your atheist friends think you are nuts. But what if you pointed out how you think they are?

Intro: Have you ever discovered a new author or writer and, without even reading too much of what they’ve done, already know that you like their style? Well, that’s me and Rebecca McLaughlin — I bought, but haven’t had a chance to do more than glance through her new book Confronting Christianity: 12 Hard Questions for the World’s Largest Religion, and I want to even more after finding an article she wrote last year that will be the basis of our apologetics segment today and tomorrow.

Sponsor: (none)

Bible segment (read along with The Bible Project):
Passage: Job 29-31
Translation: NET (New English Translation)
Words: ~1579

Apologetics/reflections segment:

Rebecca McLaughlin points out six (which we flesh out in the show):

  1. Lack of foundation for science and existence

  2. Lack of grounding for human equality

  3. Tension between secular values and religious diversity

  4. Competing needs for objective truth and religious relativism

  5. False assumption of increasing secularism

  6. False assumption that less religion is good for society (1)

Wisdom segment:
We’re ahead of schedule by one Psalm, so we’ll get back after that tomorrow.

The bottom line:

  1. Watch The Bible Project’s video on Job (below) if you haven’t already.

Love you!
