Focus Question:

Single and looking? This.

Intro:

As I was praying this morning, I was overwhelmed with a sense of shortcoming…in a good way. You see, I’ve been in a season of both preparation and waiting — not sure what or who or where I’m waiting for — and I realized that there have been long periods of history where the faithful have had to wait for generations, lifetimes, centuries. So what is my problem with praying the same old thing another day, another week? Well, the problem is me. So here’s to praying that reading the Bible together helps us see more with God’s eyes than our own.

NEW TESTAMENT SEGMENT:

In our NT segment we turn an important corner — the first half the book is doctrine (which means teaching), and the second half is about application, or living.

Passage: Ephesians 4
Translation: CSB (Christian Standard Bible)
Verses: 32
Words: ~621

OLD TESTAMENT SEGMENT:

Let a beam be torn from his house and raised up; he will be impaled on it, and his house will be made into a garbage dump because of this offense. Ezr 6:11, CSB

Passage: Esther 2-3
Translation: CSB (Christian Standard Bible)
Verses: 38
Words: ~1246

Wisdom SEGMENT:

Passage: Proverbs 11:19-22
Translation: CSB (Christian Standard Bible)
Verses: 4
Words: ~64

The bottom line:

You’ll just have to listen.
